In commemoration of World Environment Day 2026, which took place on 5th June 2026, NACCIMA Youth Entrepreneurs (NYE) Oyo State, in collaboration with the Oyo State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, under the leadership of its active Commissioner, Engr. (Dr.) Demola Aderinto (a.k.a Mr. Tree), officially flagged off the NYE Oyo 1 Million Trees Project, which is part of the initiatives of the National President of NACCIMA, Engr (Dr.) Jani Ibrahim FNSE, OON.

The event commenced with a symbolic tree planting exercise at the Ministry’s premises in Ibadan, marking the beginning of an ambitious environmental sustainability initiative aimed at contributing to climate resilience, environmental restoration, and a greener Oyo State.

Present at the event were the Permanent Secretary of Oyo State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Dr. S.O. Ojelabi and representatives of NYE; Engr. Segun Bolaji (Immediate Past National Coordinator and Pioneer State Coordinator of NYE Oyo); Amb. Rotimi Olaoluwa (National Publicity Secretary of NYE and Current State Coordinator of NYE Oyo); Engr. Femi Emmanuel (Immediate Past State Coordinator of NYE Oyo); and Mr. Ayomide Jegede (Publicity Secretary of NYE Oyo).

Segun Bolaji dedicated his tree to the memory of the Late Iyalode Alaba Lawson (a distinguished icon and mother of NACCIMA Youth Entrepreneurs), also Engr. Femi Emmanuel planted a tree in honour of Esv. Niran Adewoyin (President of OYCCIMA).
This milestone event demonstrates NYE Oyo’s commitment to environmental sustainability and its vision of planting One Million Trees across Oyo State. With the support of the Oyo State Government and the approval of 900 hectares of land across the farm settlement in the State for the initiative, the project is positioned to become one of the most ambitious youth-led environmental sustainability programmes in the state, contributing significantly to climate action, environmental restoration, and a greener future for generations to come.
Lastly NYE Oyo’s sincere appreciation goes to one of their leaders in the Chamber movement, Prince Bayo Ikujenyo for his tremendous support by donating 5000 seedlings of Eucalyptus trees towards this laudable project.
