NYE Oyo and Oyo State Government Sign Landmark MOU for 1 Million Trees Project

A decade-long collaborative framework for environmental sustainability and long-term value creation in Oyo State.

After months of planning, consultations, correspondence, and collaborative engagement, NACCIMA Youth Entrepreneurs (NYE) Oyo State and the Oyo State Government have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the implementation of the NYE Oyo 1 Million Trees Project.

The agreement, signed on 13th October 2026, marks a significant milestone in the journey towards establishing a structured, sustainable, and long-term tree plantation initiative across Oyo State.

The MOU was signed on behalf of the Oyo State Government by the Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Ademola T. Aderinto, while NYE Oyo was represented by NYE Oyo State Coordinator Amb. Rotimi Olaoluwa

From Vision to Formal Collaboration

The signing represents an important transition from project planning to a formalized framework for implementation.

The 1 Million Trees Project is designed to contribute to environmental sustainability, forestry development, ecological restoration, and climate resilience while creating opportunities for meaningful collaboration between government and the organized private sector.

Under the agreement, the collaboration will focus on the establishment and management of Eucalyptus plantations on approved lands within Oyo State. The project has received government approval covering 900 hectares of land, providing an important foundation for its planned development.

Beyond the planting of trees, the initiative recognizes the importance of effective plantation management, maintenance, monitoring, and responsible harvesting to ensure that the project delivers lasting environmental value.

Leadership and Representation at the Signing
The signing ceremony brought together representatives of the Oyo State Government and NYE Oyo, reflecting the collaborative effort behind the project.

Representing the Oyo State Government were:

• Hon. Ademola T. Aderinto — Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.
• Dr. Moradeyo Sunday Akinwale — Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.
• Mr. Ariori Kayode Folarin — Director of Forestry.

Representing NYE Oyo were:

• Amb. Rotimi Olaoluwa — National Publicity Secretary, NACCIMA Youth Entrepreneurs, and State Coordinator, NYE Oyo.
• Mrs. Ifeoluwa Amoo-Onidundu — State Secretary, NYE Oyo.

Their participation reflects the collective effort required to advance an initiative of this scale and establish a workable foundation for its implementation.

NACCIMA Youth Entrepreneurs (NYE) Oyo State expresses its appreciation to the Oyo State Government, through the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, for its engagement and collaboration towards formalizing this initiative.
